in·spi·ra·tion (ĭnˌspə-rāˈshən) noun. 1. the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something; especially to do something creative.

Inspiration can come in all forms, be it through words, actions, another's art or even everyday items. The other day, I was skimming through different websites and I came across this article about this sensational artist who uses pencils to create his artwork. I don't mean using pencils to draw with, but using them as his canvas. His name is Dalton Ghetti and is absolutely AMAZING! He creates these extraordinary miniature sculptures with 3 simple tools...one of which is a needle...YES..you heard right....a needle! If you have a chance, check out this article in Inhabitat.com. Mr. Ghetti is truly an inspiration.

Here we go...my first picture post!

This is the wedding invitation for Valli & Eden. As I said before..it's simple and elegant.
  • Names are printed on a thick red band that surrounds the entire invitation.
  • The red band holds together the invitation, rsvp and a note that was included.
  • The entire invitation is printed on white card stock and mounted on black paper.

The thank you card is similar to the invitation.
  • It measures 3.5" x 5"
  • It is flat card printed on thick white card stock.

What's on my plate...

I didn't know designing a blog could be so time consuming. I have been working on little details for the past hour and a half. *sigh* You need to put the time in to make things look perfect...or close to perfect.

I'm in the process of designing Thank You cards for a friend's mother. She recently got married and I designed her wedding invitations. They were super simple...black, white and red and we decided to mimic that simplicity in their thank you cards. I'll try to post a pic sometime today.

In addition to that, I'm working on a Black Tie email invitation for a non-profit company...at the moment my plate is quite full, but busy days are always good days!

Today, is the start of my new blog. I can't promise that I'll be able to update this everyday, but I will try my best. I am in the process of designing my website that has been in the works for a few years now. I am hoping that it will go live in a few months.

I've decided to change the name of my business from Manaluz Designs to Green Elephant Papery + Design. I figure it incorporates all that I do and hopefully the site will showcase all the projects that I've been working on.

So WELCOME to the Green Elephant and hope you visit with me again, soon.
