Fall Dolls.....

Working at Habana Outpost, you know that the most popular item on the menu is their CORN!! If you haven't tried it, I think you should jump on the train and head over there before they close this Sunday for the year. But, if you happen to miss it you can always go to Habana Cafe in Soho and taste for yourself.
With corn being the most sought after delicacy, what do they do with all the husks? We make dolls!! Well, that's what we did last weekend at the Outpost with the kids in the neighborhood. They are super easy to make, albeit a lot of tying was involved, but other than that, the kids had a blast. Plus, with all the scrap fabric we found in the office, I had the kids make clothes for their newly 'made' friends. Here's one:

New Beginnings...

Starting a new line can not only be daunting but overwhelming. Constantly thinking of new ideas is difficult to say the least. Originality is what sells as well as if the darn thing looks pretty to wear. So with all these things to think about makes the process quite stressful...yet a light has been seen, faintly, at this seemingly endless tunnel. I started this necklace last week and I think I've perfected it enough to be quite happy with the end result. I have several ideas in my head regarding my new line...and frankly, I'm super excited about it. It definitely will take time to produce, since I have other things going on at the moment, but totally enthusiastic about the pieces. I'll keep you posted...but for now, here's my recent creation.

New York City Wine + Food Festival...

We recently received tickets to this year's Food Network NYC Wine + Food Festival at the la.venue at the Waterfront. The event was presented by Godiva Chocolatier and honestly, that's all I need to say. The food, well really, the desserts, were amazing not only in taste but in presentation. The creativity that these chefs possess is undeniable. There had to be over 50 restaurants/chefs there and each table had something different to showcase. My husband and I couldn't get enough of the sweets and needless to say, I left there at least 10 lbs heavier. =) Thanks Nez!

A new you...

Who wouldn't love to create their own costume. Found this great video on how to make your own paper wigs. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely going to try this out for Halloween.

Collaborations...

Last night, my husband and I attended an event at West Elm on 62nd and Broadway. Pratt Institute, based here in Brooklyn, collaborated with West Elm and came out with a few furniture pieces that they intend to showcase and put to market. The store was beautifully put together and of course I, with iPhone in hand, took a few photos to show what they displayed.
