Planning for a birthday...

I had always wanted to plan a child's birthday party and now that Isabella's turning one soon, I got my chance. Yet, I didn't realize how crazy difficult it would be. A theme...that seemed to be something I needed so that everything related to that one topic. So what to choose from?!? She's turning one..she's not too interested in much except maybe picking dirt off the floor or throwing toys around...doesn't sound much of a theme, does it? I decided to choose something that appealed to me (of course)...and that was a vintage carnival theme.

Now that that was decided, it was time to design the invitations. After searching the web for ideas, downloading fonts off different sites, I created..what I think was the perfect invitation. But of course, printing the invitation was not the end of it. I wanted it embellished..cause I couldn't just send out a printed piece of paper...It had to POP!! So with twine, paper bands and handmade tickets...her invitation was born. The final touch, I hand stamped a vintage carousel on the envelopes. It was a lot of work..but ultimately all worth it.

Take a look.

New Year...New Me..(I hope)

Happy 2012 all!! It has obviously been quite some time since I've blogged about...well...anything. Isabella has taken quite a huge part of my daily life which doesn't mean I didn't have time to blog but I basically had nothing to blog about. Unless you wanted to hear about my endless days doing laundry or changing diapers. Didn't think so.

So here we are..a new year! With this new year, I have been trying to come up with new ideas to showcase to you...and what better way to start the year than with something handmade! Well, I haven't started it yet, I really don't have an idea on what to make, but the other day on Facebook, I came across a post that said:

"Pay it forward 2012: I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They in turn must post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2012. And don't be intimidated. Handmade doesn't mean super fancy or complicated."

and so it begins. I posted this on my wall and the first 5 quickly responded. Now, it's just a matter of figuring out what to make...thankfully, I have a year to send them out but I hope to send it to them WAY before the year is up. I'll keep you posted.
